Five Benefits of Financial Coaching

benefits of financial coaching

Financial coaching is still a relatively burgeoning industry. But even now there are thousands of coaches working with individuals and families to help them achieve financial freedom (and I’m thrilled to be one of them). Working with a coach is an investment, but the benefits of financial coaching go far beyond better budgets, paying off debts, and some more money in savings.

Here is a list of what I believe are the top five benefits you get from working with me as your coach.

Having an Accountability Partner

Changing your financial habits and attitudes is difficult. Like, really, really hard. You have to overcome years of past experiences and push forward in spite of what the past looks like. That involves confronting your past and looking in the areas you’ve tried to keep out of sight and mind.

Doing it on your own can feel overwhelming. But a coach comes alongside you and helps you along every step of the way. You have someone who will help you set goals and hold you accountable if you don’t follow through. When there is a mechanism to keep you on track, you’re more likely to succeed.

I will be the one who provides that extra boost when you need it most. Accountability is one of the most important benefits of financial coaching.

Having Someone Who Will Listen To You

Sometimes we just need someone who will listen to what’s going on. A good coach will be a good listener. We are here to allow you to speak freely about what’s going on with your money.

Yes, we will provide solutions, too. We will ask deep questions to get to the heart of the matter. But we will also just sit and listen to what’s going on in your heart and mind. And sometimes that’s just what’s needed.

Instead of merely venting to friends who are well-intentioned but unequipped to help you create solutions, having an active listener is a tremendous benefit of financial coaching.

Having A Source of Hope and Encouragement

Life has a way of kicking us when we’re down (see much of 2020 and 2021). There are often setbacks and unexpected obstacles on our financial journey. I can’t count how many times I’ve started with a client and just a few weeks in, something goes wrong, like a wrecked car, HVAC system breakage, emergency vet bill, etc.

It is in these situations that a coach can remind you that this isn’t the end of the world. This setback doesn’t have to be permanent. You can and will overcome this, and I’m going to show you how. Your situation may not be as bleak as it appears and having me as your coach can give you the lift you need to keep powering forward.

Having Someone Who Will Challenge Your Worldview

I do far more than help you create a budget, or pay off debt, or build emergency savings. I confront the way you view the world and help you see what beliefs and attitudes are holding you down. We act in a way that is consistent with our beliefs, and we need to confront the things that keep us from doing life on the level we truly desire.

We often have limiting beliefs that prevent us from operating at higher levels. I am the one who will identify that view, call it out, and challenge you to think in a different way. This may sound agonizing, and sometimes growth can involve some pain. But this benefit from financial coaching will help you operate on a higher plane of existence, one of intentionality and purpose.

We cannot solve our problems on the existing plane of thinking that created them. A higher level is necessary to overcome what holds you back today. And I will help you break those mental and emotional chains.

Having Someone Who Will Speak Truth Into Your Life No Matter What

Let’s face it, few people are willing to boldly speak the truth to us these days. People don’t handle conflict well and would rather write obscure Facebook posts and sub-tweets. I don’t have time for that sort of nonsense and neither do you.

Unlike your friends and family, I have no stake in the decisions you make. Whether you take on more debt or pay it all off has no effect on my life. So as your coach, I am in an unbiased position where I can and will speak honestly into your situation.

My goal is to set you up to be a powerful and independent decision-maker. You can only do that when you are armed with the truth. I will withhold nothing from you as I guide you on your journey. Your success is my success, and only by boldly speaking the truth will we both achieve our goals.

These are just some of the benefits of financial coaching. The greatest benefit to you depends on what your needs are, and everyone is different. To find out for yourself, schedule your free Discovery Session to see how I can take you to the next level.
